NextEra Energy Inc. has agreed to sell wind power to a Houston business that plans to create gasoline from natural gas in the world’s largest shale resource for the next 20 years.
According to a joint statement, the renewable-energy giant would deliver 1,000 gigawatt-hours per year to Nacero Inc.’s proposed fuel-making plant in West Texas’ Permian Basin.
NextEra’s wind power supply will supplement electricity generated by a 200-megawatt solar array that Nacero plans to build next to the plant. This year will be the start of construction. The financial parameters of the power-purchase agreement were not released, and it is contingent on the project meeting major development milestone
